LAst Sunday , I went to the Singapore Science Centre with jia ping , chun hui and kirti. We arrived at the Science Centre at 10.30am. There were already a lot of people there. Maybe because it was a Sunday , it was during the school hoilday and there were quite a lot of activities. There were an exhibition on the inventions of the ancient Chinese , a video on Qin Shi Huang ( the 1st emperor of China ) and Chemistry week activities. We were there for the Chemistry week. Ms loh , our chemistry teacher wanted us to attend some activities and write a journal as well as showing her photos to prove we were there.
So we paid an entrance fee of $3 and went in. Straight away we went to 3rd level where the labs were located . We went for the Blue Print . Blue Print is when people in the pass had no photocopy machine and hence uses blur print. The advantage of Blue print were that it allows an unlimited number of prints to be made without degradaton and assures highly accurate dimensions on the copies. The resulting prints were also resistant to fading , markings and alteration. Additionally , the blue print process is less expensive compared to a silver based photographic process.
The process of making blue print is quite fun as we were allowed to make our own designs . Jia ping took quite a logn time for hers as she wanted it to be perfect. ha ha =) For me , well , I just didn't knew which design I wanted so I just drew some patterns. The whole course took about 1hr .From 11am-12pm.
After that we went for lunch and returned at 2pm for our second course , which was Designing T-shirt . At first we thought it was just a course of desinging T-Shirts by drawing on it and using chemical effects and etc. But we were wrong. In fact we all the patterns which we want on out T-shirt would spread . The T-shirt Designing uses the concept of solubility . The ink made by the markers pen would be spread using enthnol . So you would get a circle of colourful rings instead .
No choice , but to do something on the T-shirt. Jia ping refused to design on hers so she went to design on Kirti's T-shirt.
After the course , we went to view some exhibits and went home. This was quite a learning journey for us.
