Yesterday, Ms Ang , our English teacher just showed us a video 'Singapore Heartware'. This video is mainly about how Singaporeans and PM Lee( Prime minister, Mr Lee Hisan Long) felt about Singaporeans going abroad to study and hence decided to remain there. In my opinion, I think that after all, if one was born in Singapore , grew up here with all the family and friends ,then what for do one wanted to stay abroad. Staying abroad may not be the same as Singapore. People from other countries may not accept you however contributions you made to their society but in Singapore, whatever contributions you made will be recognized. Compared other countries to us. Other countries may be better than Singapore in some ways but this is our home where we were born and belongs. And can one find food that Singapore had in other countries. Many whom I knew missed the food back here where they are abroad. Now, many foreigners are coming here to study and works. They even felt that Singapore had made them feel comfortable and could called this place home. But more Singaporeans are going abroad and planning to stay there. In this case, all the talents will be abroad and who will be left in Singapore. I think that if one day, I had a chance to study abroad, after completing my studies, I will definitely return to Singapore because I had all my friends and family here. Though small, I must say that Singapore was quite a safe place where security was tight. Here we had all the people from different parts of the world; hence we are a multi –racial country which accept foreigners. Even in school, kids and teenagers had recognized foreigners as their friends. But in other countries, does the same thing happen? So I do hope that in the near future, fellow Singaporeans who are studying abroad will always remember where their roots are and will return here to Singapore and contribute to the society.

Recently, teachers have been asking us to think or write about the career ( job ) that we are going into in the future. All these have caused me a big headache as I do not know which field I really wanted to go into or which job I'm interested in. After much thought, I finally decided that I'm going to be a chinese language teacher.
Why do I want to become a chinese teacher?
*since young , i had always scored quite well for mother tongue
* I liked the subject and find it quite find interesting
* I wanted to teach the future generation this language with China emerging as an economic powerhous .
*because the students are chinese and must know their mother language
*promote an interest in the language
*pass knowledge to the students

Being a teacher might not be easy as the society is changing now . Students are turning into not respecting teachers ,not listening in class and affecting the rest. But despite that, a teacher will be insipring all your pupils and acting as a role model for them to look upon as.And one would feel a sense of satisfied when your pupils scored good results and learned the right ways of life. To be one , I would have to have good grades in Mother Tongue Language, at least 5 GCE O-level passes & Not more than 20 points in total aggregate score El & 4 best subjects at the O-level. Hence I have to work hard not only on this subject as well as others.

Singapore Ngee Ann Polytechnic offered a Diploma in Chinese Studies(CHS) (3-year course) under the school of humantities. And it is the first and only such course offered in a local polytechnic, the Diploma in Chinese Studies (CHS) was launched in response to the growing demand for effectively bilingual professionals who are competent in the Chinese language and culture. Jointly designed and taught by faculty from Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Zhejiang University City College (ZUCC), and the National Institute of Education (NIE), this course prepares students for a range of careers in education, media, business as well as translation and interpretation. Over 80 per cent of the course is conducted in Chinese. The curriculum covers subjects in Chinese language, literature, culture, translation and interpretation skills, media studies, psychology and education studies.
The Diploma has two tracks: teaching and media

Students on the teaching track will be attached to NIE for one semester and they will, upon earning their Diploma in CHS, need only to spend one more year in NIE to receive their Diploma in Education (Chinese Specialisation).

Students on media track will be attached to a company for one semester, in the area of their career interest where the Chinese language is actively used. Alternatively, they can embark on an industry / research project.

They are highly suitable for positions such as Chinese language teachers, reporters for Chinese newspapers or magazines, Chinese radio/TV journalists or producers, translators or interpreters, writers for educational or fictional materials, and bilingual marketing communications executives. With China emerging as an economic powerhouse, opportunities abound and students will enjoy a competitive advantage over others.

So if I failed to become a teacher, there are still other jobs waiting for me.
But if I do have a chance to go to junior college, I will then have to choose between polytechnic and junior college.

to fufill my ambition and wishes, I would have to study hard and achieving good resutls in the o-level . Wish me luck =)

hi , my name is sandra .Does it seems too common to start like that ? How about...

Sandra is
Angelic .
Never lack of friends~
Dazzling with
Rightness
And full of compassion to help those in need

Is that better? Anyway, how about you?
It must be great to be living in Japan, experincing cherry blossoms there in spring and the beautiful white snow in winter .It's spring there isn't it? Sometimes I wonders how beautiful it must be to have a picnic under the cherry blossoms trees like what most Japanese did .Do your home had them?

Singapore is a multi-racial country. As singapore is located near the Equator, hence we did not experince the four seasons which other countries did.All we had was sunshine and rain.So often, I will envy those living in countries which have the four seasons.Of course, having seasons may be a good thing and a bad thing too.Every year, the countries around Southeast Asia will experince the monsoon wind.Last year we had the monsoon season which was so bad that some parts in Singapore were flooded.SO did other SEA(southeast asia) countries. Some people even had their homes destroyed in Malaysia.Let's change the topic. It seemes boring to talk about flooding and monsoon rains.Let's change the topic.
In SIngapore,we also have all kinds of different races here. From Chinese, malays, indians to eurasians. That explained we had all sorts of ocassions celebrated in singapore. One such ocassion coming n 1 week's time was the Lunar Chinese NEw Year.I will be updating on how I spent my Chinese NEw year after the celebration.

So now more about me.
Fistly, I'm only child in the family. So hence, I have no siblings.Sometimes,i wonder how it's like to have an older sibling.A sister or a brother. They would be your tutor in schoolwork and the person you can confide in if you have any problems.
I adores dolphins cause they are smart and playful like me.Only I shadn't say I 'm smart like them =).I also adores Pandas .Pandas are chubby animals .Sometime I envy pandas. All they ever do is to eat and sleep all day. They slept for about 90% of the day and play or exercise around for only 4 hours a day.How nice if humans could be like them. But better not be a person who eats and sleeps all day. That's not good for health.
I also liked anything releated to Disney.
Especially mickey, chip and dale, donald and so on. They are my childhood friends who accompany me since young. So do Barney(The purple dinosaur).Untill now, whenever I sees them,it brought back memorable memories for me.
I'm too a cheerful girl but always full of worries.Worrying about this and that.Ha Ha =) But nevertheless,I have many friends surrounding me too. There are 5 close friends which I have now in secondary. They are ying xuan, Jia ping,Kirti and CHun hui.In sec 1 (known as year one) I did not really know them well except for chun hui because we went to the same primary school(to you, it might be elementary school). AS time passes, bonding grew among us.They influence me by their morals of life and it encouraged me to be like them.'Work hard, play hard'. I'm sure you too would have friends like me.

About my school: CHong boon secondary is a place where teachers cared for students and friendship would be bonded here. Our school had differnt CCAs(co-curricular activities). For uniform groups, we had the NPCC( national police cadets), NCC(For boys only.Similar to NPCC) and Red Cross. For performing arts we had the dance and the concert band. Our school band had done us proud by winning a gold award in the SYF ( singapore youth festival)competition. They, togther with the dance are preparing for the upcoming 2years one time SYF competition held in April. For sports and Games,we had the netball(Girls only) and Volleyball(Boys only),badminton and X-country(track and field)as well as the clubs and societies : Multimedia club, green club, library club,ELDDS(Drama club).
I belongs to the Library and Green CLub.AS the other CCAs required you to stayed back till 5 - 6pm plus .Hence I chooses these 2 CCAs.For more information on my school,I have put a link to the school website .Maybe you can go take a look.

That's all I had.Sorry if I'm long-winded.DOn't mind me.Bye and hope to heard from you soon.ANd do give comments and tell me more about yourself.Maybe we can exchange e-mails or so on .
